Camping American Fork Canyon

Last weekend we were able to go camping with the kids. Cliff did a TON of work to get our camper trailer road worthy, legal and functional. We were able to find a reservation for an RV spot up American Fork Canyon. There was only about 2 spots we could find and not being too familiar with this canyon we figured its better than nothing and we could see for ourselves if it was worth going back. It is very much worth going back again and again. Not only is it CLOSE... I'm talking 30 miles if that from our doorstep, its also gorgeous. We had a great time. It was BEAUTIFUL.... We lucked into a great spot with only one side available for human neighbors and off in the distance on the other side is where the monsters lived. At least according to Cecilia and her growing imagination. There were some large boulders and that is where she was sure the monsters made their home.

One day we got wet and took a dip in one of a reservoirs ... unfortunately I forgot the camera. The kids played for a couple of hours and we had lunch on the 3 foot wide beach, okay maybe 4 foot wide beach (very narrow). I'll try to do better next time.

We for sure want to visit this canyon again and hopefully soon.

There was a great tent pad with gravel that the kids used as their own personal sand box.

Cecilia and Drake spent most of their outside time following one another around.

We checked out a few reservoirs that were SO close, 3 miles from our site. If Drake wasn't sleeping then Cecilia was. I have NO idea how kids can sleep through some of the things they sleep through. We took a dirt road to get to one of the reservoirs and I was holding Drake's head when he was sleeping on it to make sure he didn't get whiplash.

We had these amazing rock cliffs on both sides of us.

One night at sunset the clouds and light were at such an angle that it lit up our sky with all kinds of fun pink and orange colors. Very beautiful.
