Circus Report

Reporting on our experience at the Circus. ... Let's back up just a little. Cliff and I didn't think it would do any harm to tell Cecilia ahead of time that we would be going to the circus. Since she had never been and did not really know what to expect, other than what her little 3 & 1\2 year old mind could come up with we did not expect much anticipation.

We told Cecilia a few days prior and got an ok cool kind of response. We thought maybe she will get a little more excited once she is there and see's what it's all about. The next day she asks are we going to the circus today? I tell her no not today and begin to try to teach the concept of time and dates to her. I even used a calendar.

We continued to get a 'are we going to the circus today, tomorrow, yesterday' probes every now and then. The morning of the day that we were going to attend the circus the FIRST words out of Cecilia when I woke her up to get dressed for the sitter was 'are we going to the circus today?' She was obviously looking forward to it without even knowing exactly what to expect.

Our tickets were not until the 3 p.m. show of the circus on a Friday. We did our usual routine of sitter and work. Cliff and I got off early met at home and went together to pick up the kids and then head downtown for the show!

Final report is that we had a GRAND time. Kids sat and were entertained for the majority of the show and for a 3.5 year old and a 1.5 year old that is pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised at our own entertainment as well. Cliff has been to the circus more as a kid than I had been and he was very impressed with the current role of the circus master/director. I'm not sure of his official title but he was singing and making things interesting. This continued to keep the momentum for the entire show high and engaging. I was impressed with the variety of abilities and talents that the performers had and the feats they were able to accomplish. Some of the highlights for the kids were the elephants, tigers (specifically) and the other animals. Highlights for the adults were everything but especially the motorcycle cage with I believe 7 motorcycles in the cage at one time. Even in the DARK .... WOW!

We were able to get the kids each a toy and they did not let go of them for DAYS! Here are a few pictures in the car on the way home and then a few days later with their pajamas on but playing with their circus toys.

Very enjoyable and we were impressed with how well the kids did with their attention and how easy it was to get in and out. Definitely will try to go again.
